The Hunt is ON!

We can't resist gathering these gorgeous pieces of the earth that the waves bring forth. Monitoring the weather and timing our outings so we arrive about an hour before high tide gives us hours of search time. Always on the hunt for gravel beds and new locations, but we have our favorites also that seem to change every year but still produce. My personal challenge is to find the coveted orange pieces, especially the large ones that fit snugly in your palm. "What will we do with all these?" we wonder, as we already have a multitude at home from past years. But that concern is for another day; for now, the waves are calling, and we must answer!

Forest Trail

It's always a breeze to convince Bob to hike this trail, especially with the promise of winding down dockside with a cold beer at Darlings.

Climbing the Dunes

The sand dunes in Florence are a stunning natural feature, towering hundreds of feet along the coastline. A brief drive from our campsite leads to several spots where you can either climb to the beach or, for the more adventurous, drive over in a 4x4. We've done this a few times, especially when the boys were with us, and Cash even began learning to drive the Jeep on the beach.

We'll be here for a few weeks, providing ample opportunity to explore.

Oregon on our Mind

Returning to my happy place, the Oregon coast. Over the coming months, we'll traverse the coastline, seeking out cool days, ocean breezes, tranquil moments, and the opportunity to create lasting memories with the finest travel companion one could wish for.

On The Road Again

Our summer journey has us headed to the Oregon coast once again. The first leg of our trip was a delightful long weekend at Melissa's enchanting garden center in Susanville. We were welcomed by a sea of blossoms at our spot near her park. With delicious food and engaging conversations, it's consistently a highlight of our journey to the coast.

25 Years, My How Time Flies

Hard to believe that 25 years ago, a very young man enlisted in the United States Navy with the intention of a full-time job, and the possibility a little bit of adventure.
