Off the coast in the northern part of Olympic National Park, near the mouth of the Quillayute River, sits Rialto Beach. When we mentioned to Jimmy at the Rainforest Hostel that we collected rocks he suggested this beach over La Push, which sits on the south side of the river. So glad he did. The first 100 feet we walked on the beach our pockets were already filling up. Every color you can imagine. We realized that we were going to have to really limit ourselves, until I went back to the car and got my backpack - then it was “Game On”. Spent the better part of the day wandering around the huge driftwood and taking in the beauty. The rocks we collected are now happy tumbling in the machine and I can’t wait to see how they turn out when we open it in a couple weeks.
